The evening started with a Tartan Third Degree which is pretty much the same as our regular Third Degree but with the Officers, Brethren, and many of the visitors dressed in the kilt, trews, or even just a tartan tie. With the Candidate for the evening unfortunately called away on business, a suitable substitute was helped to volunteer, and the Lodge worked our unique Third Degree.
At the close of the Degree, the Master passed his Gavel to the Provincial Grand Master who presided over the presentation to Bro Kenny of a Grand Lodge of Scotland Certificate, a plaque from visitors from UGLE, a watch fob and a set of friendship tokens. For the first time in sixty years Bro Ken was (almost) speechless and after a very few words received a standing ovation from the 58 brethren present. A memorable event that will remain with everybody who was there on the night for a long time to come.
The next meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter is not until after the summer recess.
